Dilara Begum, Librarian of East West University received the grant to attend the world Library and Information congress:76th IFLA General Conference and Assembly, Gothenburgh, Sweden, from 9 - 15 August, 2010.
A Seminar on Digital Library and Launching of Meebo software by the East West University Library held successfully at 3:00 pm on 18 July 2010. Eminent Faculty Members Mr. Kazi Mostak Gausul Hoq and Mr. Nafis Zaman Shuvo University of Dhaka, Department of Information Science and Library Management and Ahmed Wasimul Bari, IT and Management Consultant, Mark Invention, New Zealand present there as resource persons.
East West University Library inaugurated a UN reference corner at its library section supported by the United Nations Information Centre (UNIC), Dhaka today. The corner consists of UN publications produced locally and by UN Head quarters. The corner will facilitate the students and the faculty members of EWU to have the opportunity to read and use the UN publications at EWU library instead of going to UN Information Centre. They also arranged a discussion programme on Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) for EWU students.
A meeting of the 'International Information Literacy Consortium (IILC)' held successfully on 13 December 2010 at East West University". Professor Dr. Jagtar Singh, chairman, IILC for South Asian region was the key speaker of the program
Renowned library professionals and faculty members were present at the meeting. Ms. Dilara Begum, Librarian, Head of Library, East West University and country coordinator, International Information Literacy Consortium (IILC) coordinated the meeting.
