Four European library professionals visited EWU Library on 18 August 2010. They shared their country and university library experience. They are Gabriela Reqikoua of Charles University, The Czeck Republic, Mer Mehkal, ATB Zin, of The Czeck Republic, Petra Hanzalroua, of Charles University and Radek Curor, ICT Prague, of Czeck Republic.
Dr. M Aslam Alam,Secretary, BFID, Ministry of Finance, Professor Ahmed Shafee, Vice Chancellor, EWU, Mr. Nowshad Shamsul Arefin, Member, BOT, EWU and Dr. Syed Robiul Bashar, Director, IRC, Archer K. Blood American Center Library visited EWU Library on 6 April 2015. Dr. Dilara Begum, Librarian, Head of Library was there at that time. After attending the closing ceremony of course on digital library, the guests visited the EWU Library.
Closing ceremony of workshop on koha and dspace held on 11 June 2015 at East West University. Professor Ahmed Shafee, Vice Chancellor, East West University graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and Dr. Dilara Begum, Librarian, Head of Library, East West University and General Secretary, Digital Library Network of South Asia (DLNetSA) coordinated the program. Professor Ahmed Shafee discussed about importance of digital library in enhancing quality education. He also emphasized on the sustainability of digital library in Bangladesh.
Speakers at a seminar on Sunday said digital preservation is a principal consideration in digital library development in the wider Asian region, says a press release.
It is based on the part of experience with digital library development and is also part of a study of the literature on digital preservation, they added.
The speakers said this at the seminar on 'issues in digital preservation in Asian digital libraries' was organised by East West University (EWU) Library at its main campus in the city.
The second phase of the workshop was Health Information Literacy that was conducted on 12 and 13 February 2012 at the East West University Auditorium. This workshop was specially designed for the researchers, faculty members, health workers and graduate and undergraduate students from different universities of the country. Professor Ahmed Shafee, Vice Chancellor, East West University attended at the closing ceremony as cheif guest. He emphasized that libraries have a pivotal role in promoting health information literacy.
