Workshop on Koha and MARC21 completed successfully

East West University Library organized a workshop on “Integrated Library System: Koha and MARC 21” from 06-09 January 2017. Twenty participants including faculty members, IT Experts, Library Professionals and students from national level public, private and research institutes joined this workshop. Dr. Dilara Begum, Chairperson, Department of Information Studies and Library Management and Librarian (In-Charge) acted as the Workshop Director as well as Lead Resource Person where Md. Mamun-OR-Rashid, Assistant Librarian, East West University and Md. Sagar Shahanawaz were Resource Person at the workshop.

In this 4-day workshop, 24 interactive sessions conducted including overview of Koha, Linux introduction, Koha installation and configuration, different modules of Koha, MARC 21 etc.

The closing ceremony of the workshop held on 9 January 2017. A.Z.M. Shafiqul Alam, Treasurer, East West University attended at the program as the chief guest where Dr. Fouzia Mannan, Dean, Faculty of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences was the special guest at the program. The concluding session started with a presentation by the Workshop Director Dr. Dilara Begum. She delivered a brief and splendid presentation indicating the role of East West University Library in automation and digitization not only in Bangladesh but also in other territories of the world. It was followed by the open discussion from participants regarding the workshop. The feedback reflects the workshop as successful one. Then honorable guests provided their brief speech. After that, the Chief Guest handed over certificates among the participants for successful completion of the workshop. At the end the Dr. Dilara Begum thanked to all the participants, guest and library team for their enthusiasm.
