Happy International Open Access Week 2025!

Dr. S. R. Lasker Library celebrated International Open Access Week 2025 (October 20–26), continuing our tradition since 2016 of promoting open access and inclusive knowledge sharing within our academic community. This year’s theme, “Who Owns Our Knowledge?”, invited us to reflect deeply on the systems and structures that shape how knowledge is created, accessed, and valued.

In an era where AI and commercialization were transforming research and publishing, this question became more urgent than ever. At Dr. S. R. Lasker Library, EWU, we proudly joined this global conversation through reflections and engagement on how communities could reclaim ownership of the knowledge they produce.

As part of our celebration of this week, Dr. S. R. Lasker Library has initiated a new reflective activity titled:

This initiative encouraged students to critically reflect on how they created, accessed, valued, and shared knowledge in both academic and personal contexts. It aligned with this year’s global theme, “Who Owns Our Knowledge?”, and supported our ongoing commitment since 2016 to promoting open access and inclusive knowledge sharing. We warmly invited all library patrons to participate in this important initiative!

Let’s stand together for openness, transparency, and equity in research.
Let’s make knowledge a shared resource, not a commercial product.
