Impact of BRAC Healthcare Programme on the Health Status of Women: Urban Areas in Bangladesh

Abstract:

In this paper a modest attempt has been made to investigate the impact of the BRAC Healthcare Programme on the health outcomes of women living in urban areas. Health outcomes were measured using an anthropometric indicator: weight-for-height z-scores. The key finding is that the BRAC Healthcare Programme (BHP) had a positive impact on the health outcome of its members living in urban areas. Anthropometric measures of its female urban members improved significantly compared to the members of other NGO's after initiating the BHP programme. Undertaking such programmes other NGOs can also play great role in improving health status of women and children.
