East West University Library has observed International Open Access Week from 19 October 2020 to 25 October 2020. For the last ten years, academic and research communities and libraries have participated in a global event Open Access Week to learn about the potential benefits of Open Access, to share what they’ve learned with colleagues, and to help inspire wider participation in helping to make Open Access a new norm in scholarship and research.
The theme of Open Access Week 2020 (October 19-25) was “Open with Purpose: Taking Action to Build Structural Equity and Inclusion”. EWU library celebrated this event with a week-long programs. The programs included:
1. Awareness building campaign on “Open Access Publishing Practices” among the university community.
2. Dissemination of information of “Open Educational Resources” to the EWU Faculty Members also included in this event.
3. “Quiz Competition on Open Access” for EWU students has organized on this year's theme.
The quiz competition took place in the evening of 27 October 2020 virtually on google meet. A huge number of registered students participated in the quiz. EWU Library provided e-certificates to the participants and prize to the first three winners. Dr. Dilara Begum, Associate Professor and Chairperson, Department of Information Studies and Library Management & Librarian (In-charge) East West University was the Chair of this event. And the faculty members of ISLM department were present as observers in this event. Dr. Dilara Begum congratulated the winners of the quiz competition and gave them big thank for participating in the event. She also gave thank and appreciated the Library Team for arranging an wonderful event. The programs helped EWU community to learn about Open Access and its facilities.
