East West University (EWU) Library organized an enlightening discussion session on the advantages of subscribing to Springer Nature eBooks for faculty members and students. The event took place on June 12, 2023, at 3:00 PM at the Reserve Section (Annex) of the EWU Library. Springer Nature eBooks are unparalleled resources, annually providing thousands of textbooks, lecture note series, and proceedings for undergraduate, graduate students and researchers.
The salient features of Springer Nature eBooks were discussed during the session:
- Quality content, ensured by over 400 dedicated publishing editors present in research growth areas worldwide.
- Volume with more than 12,000 new eBooks published annually, averaging 30+ eBooks per day.
- Breadth covering 21 subject collections across Science, Technology, Medicine (STM), and Humanities and Social Sciences (HSS) subject areas in English.
- Accessibility with no Digital Rights Management restricting downloads and unlimited concurrent users.
Mr. Avijit Das from Springer Nature, India, led the session. He discussed the different eBook subscription models and elucidated the benefits of utilizing these eBooks. Following his presentation, a question-and-answer session ensued. Faculty members and students posed a variety of inquiries, which were answered constructively by Mr. Das and Mr. Shamim Ahmed, the CEO of Knowledge Aid.
The session was chaired by Dr. Dilara Begum, Associate Professor, Chairperson of the Department of Information Studies, and Librarian (In-Charge). Around 35 participants, including faculty members, administrative staff, and intern students, were in attendance, making the event a fruitful endeavor in extending the knowledge frontier of the EWU community.
