Dr. S. R. Lasker Library, EWU organized a daylong event titled
"Understanding Modern Information Profession: Redesigning for the Sustainable Future" on 11 September 2024, aimed at fostering a deeper understanding of the evolving landscape of information professions.

Fifty-eight students from the Department of Information Studies, EWU and the Department of Information Sciences and Library Management, Noakhali Science and Technology University (NSTU), who are currently participating in an internship program at the Bangladesh National Scientific and Technical Documentation Center (BANSDOC), took part in the event. The event kicked off at 10:15 AM with a welcome address from Dr. Dilara Begum, Professor and Chairperson of the Department of Information Studies, EWU.

The interns were given a guided tour of the library’s facilities. Led by library team members, the tour showcased the library’s wide range of digital and physical resources, cutting-edge research support tools, and specialized services. The day continued with an engaging group activity titled "Key Trends and Innovations in Modern Library Services: Bangladesh Perspective." The interns, divided into groups, collaborated to brainstorm and present innovative ideas for enhancing academic library services. Each group shared their ideas for developing cutting-edge solutions, such as digital preservation strategies, sustainable library practices, and inclusive community services. The session concluded with feedback from facilitators and peers, fostering a collaborative learning environment.

Dr. Dilara Begum noted that this event represented a vital step in equipping future information professionals with the skills needed to navigate an increasingly digital and interconnected world.
