This shift towards dialectical perspectives fosters a deeper understanding of the complex relationships between variables and their interconnections. It is particularly illustrated by the Complex Dynamic Systems Theory (CDST; Larsen-Freeman & Camero, 2008), which provides a theoretical framework for examining the dynamic aspects of learner psychology and its effects on language learning and communication.
