On 10 December 2025, Dr. S. R. Lasker Library organized a session titled “From Academic Librarianship to Global Leadership: A Session with Emily Drabinski.” The program was chaired by Professor Dr. Dilara Begum, Librarian (In-charge).
The session commenced with a brief overview of the library’s history, highlighting its longstanding commitment to innovation in digital user services and its active connectivity with national and international networks. Emily Drabinski, Associate Professor and Chair at Queens College, CUNY, shared her inspiring journey from academic librarianship to global leadership. She emphasized critical librarianship, equity-centered practices, and the importance of IT and AI skills for future-ready librarians. Drabinski encouraged research-driven problem-solving and expressed plans to advocate for ALA membership fee waivers for professionals from developing countries. The event concluded with appreciation for the library’s innovative services and professional excellence.
