Criteria for identification of predatory journals and publishers.

A “predatory journal” is a academic journal which has no peer review system and no editorial board as well as ask huge publication charges from researchers. The first whistle for predatory journals and publishers popularly known as Beall’s list. This was a blog titled ‘Scholarly Open Access’ maintained since 2012 by Jeffrey Beall who is an academic librarian at the University of Colorado in Denver.  In January 2017, this blog has been shut down and removed all its content from the platform. Currently, the list is available in web archive (https://web.archive.org/web/20170111172306/https://scholarlyoa.com/publishers). The criteria for determining predatory open-access publishers defined by him is available at https://beallslist.weebly.com/uploads/3/0/9/5/30958339/criteria-2015.pdf  But, the Beall’s list is continuing by an anonymous postdoctoral researcher. This list is available at https://beallslist.weebly.com and updated. There is another name ‘Stop Predatory Journals’ is available at https://predatoryjournals.com/publishers that is built and maintained by an independent group. One more list name Cabell's list (available at http://www.cabells.com) and the criteria considered for evaluating a suspected journal are available at http://www.cabells.com/blacklist-criteria
