Technology Management and Competitiveness for Fast Track Development: A Conceptual Setting

Abstract: 

The paper explores various levels of competitiveness and innovations required for spasmodic entrepreneurial development in modern business paradigm. Improper management & understanding of technology and absence of technological upgradation, transfer or assimilation are major problems leading to poor quality, high cost of product and giving rise to lack of competitiveness & innovativeness in industrial sector in most of the developing countries. Through appropriate technological management, an enterprise and its associates can properly integrate and manage the interdependence between technological innovations and competitiveness pertaining to organizational structure, systems, strategy, finance and management aspect. The paper is an outcome of a research study conducted recently to address the problems of technology management in a developing country. Observations made in the paper are based on a sample survey undertaken recently on various category of 123 enterprises selected from different district of Bangladesh. The paper elucidates some key factors that act as pivotal role to achieve corporate restructuring required to obtain sustainable competitiveness and growth of an enterprise. It has objectives to address the aspects pertaining to new modification of technological features, major changes in orientation in conceptual setting of technological management and policy imperatives of management for leapfrogging development of industries and enterprises
