Relationships between power, procedural justice, and organizational outcomes in NCBs of Bangladesh

Abstract:

Theoretical models of employees' perceptions of managers' use of power and procedural justice were proposed in an attempt to understand their relationships with employees' organizational commitment and job satisfaction levels in Nationalized commercial Banks (NCBs) of Bangladesh. Data were collected from the bank employees using a serf-administered questionnaire. Simultaneous regression analysis shows that for the NCBs, procedural justice has a significant relationship with employees, organizational commitment and job satisfaction levels. Among the managers' power bases, referent power is the most effective to influence employees' commitment and job satisfaction levels in NCBs of Bangladesh. Top management's support is required to encourage the managers to learn and improve their referent and expert power bases. Thus, the recruitment policy of NCBs could ensure recruiting and training managers to corroborate their referent and expert power bases.
