Problems of Measuring Intellectual Capital: A Study on Software firms of Bangladesh
Knowledge-based value addition is increasingly constituting a greater part of the value chain. Intellectual Capital, the repository of knowledge, is becoming more important day by day. However, no worldwide-agreed method of measuring intellectual capital has been developed yet. But a lot of propositions are being made now a- days to face this new challenge of knowledge-based economy. But almost all these methods are based on the framework of the developed economy. Consequently, lot of problems arise while one tries to apply any such method(s) to measure the intellectual capital of knowledge-based organizations like software firms in a developing country like Bangladesh. Such problems, with reference to the software sector of Bangladesh, include poor presence of the software firms in share market, limitation of local banks, non-involvement of multinational banks, scope of subjective judgment, lack of standard, lack of expert-services, inadequate legal framework etc.
