Population and Development Issues in Bangladesh

This paper attempts to understand the key issues related to population and development in the context of Bangladesh. With the help of secondary data, it analyzes current status of population of Bangladesh, especially in terms of its size and quality, as reflected in maternal mortality, child mortality, fertility, nutritional status, poverty, etc. It also shows different aspects of development as embodied in women empowerment, poverty, education, climate change, migration, urbanization etc. Finally, it recommends several strategies to control the existing growth of population and to improve its quality.
