Nature and Trend of Bureaucracy Among the Young and Senior Bangladeshi Executives: A Comparative Analysis

Abstract: 

Bangladeshi executives - experienced or young - in some cases seem bureaucratic in nature. However they are mostly driven by the contemporary characteristics of bureaucracy. This is not necessarily bad or harmful to face the business challenges. Clearly written rules, procedures, impersonality can bring the fairness and efficiency for an organization. Again nepotism, red tapes, incompetence, etc., can hamper organizational performance. Participative decision-making can empower front line executives and encourage innovation However a new venture of a business firm that care highly about the end-users satisfaction often needs to be more bureaucratic. Negative impact of bureaucracy can be checked before it gets out of control. Thus country's business entrepreneurs and leaders should be careful not to the concept of 'bureaucracy' but to the negative impact of bureaucracy and take timely actions.
