Economic security plays a vital role in the overall well-being of the population of the South Asian Region. It triggers many other forms of insecurity. The economic situation is closely inter-related with food security and with health security for developing states as with low budgets they cannot afford to provide sufficient health care and food to meet the populations' needs. This paper presents various aspects of economic dimensions of human security including poverty and food security and the various strategies government and NGOs have undertaken to address economic dimensions of human security.
