Author Productivity in Library and Information Science (LIS) Research of Bangladesh: Testing Lotka's Law and Related Phenomena

Abstract:

This paper examines the validity of Lotka's law using “full productivity” of authorship to library and information science (LIS) research of Bangladesh. Lotka's law is tested using both generalized and modified forms and follow-up kolmogorov-Simirnov tests are applied. The results suggest that author productivity predicted in Lotka's law is applicable to LIS research in Bangladesh. Price square root law and 80/20 rule are not applicable to author productivity data. The extent of collaboration in LIS authorship of Bangladesh is also discussed.
