Application of Stanford Binet Intelligence Sacle Fifth Education on Children of Bangladesh: How Reliable the Test Is!
Assessing intelligence is a complex process but has become an established practice in psychological testing because of its potential effects on individuals' lives. To assess individuals' intelligence quotient (IQ) standardized test toolkit is essential where reliability testing of any test is third part of standardization. The main purpose of the present study is to test the reliability and to examine the differences in scores between the two administrations of tests. A quantitative study was carried out among the 330 students of Dhaka city. The coefficients for the Nonverbal (r=0.71), Verbal (0.76) and Full Scale IQ scores (0.75) of SB5-BD suggest the strong relationship between two administration of test indicating their reliability. The study depicts that there was a consistency between the two correlations of tests scores. The subtest wise reliability ranges from 0.88 to 0.98. The SB5-BD being proved as a reliable test kit through this study, now suggest for successful completion of validity, the fourth step of standardization. However, incorporating the verbal domain of SB5 in national curriculum, it would benefit the students in educational settings by improving their communication particularly verbal skills.
